Inuit Art

There's a cabin near where I work in the summer that is covered inside by graffiti.  The images are done in pen, pencil and sharpie.  Some of the signatures are scratched into the walls or singed in with lighters.  The written elements are partly in English and partly in Inuktitut.  Judging by some of the comments on the walls, a lot of the art is done when people are storm bound in the cabin.  There's quite a mix of traditional and modern themes, with a healthy dose of mythic and religious elements. There is a lot expressed in just a few lines.

I wish I could remember what the angel was saying.

I think that I like the guy hauling the walrus out of the ice the best.  I'm not sure exactly what his expression is, but I don't think I'd be that calm.

  2. That would be my interpretation. I like that she has a narwhal tail. The cabin is located in an area known for its narwhal hunting.
