Franklin was Governor of Tasmania { Van Diemans Land] when the anglophone rebels of 1836 were exiled there: the francophones went to Canada Bay, New South Wales on the lower reaches of the Parramatta River, in Sydney.{ not the NSW in Canada; lol]

ReplyDeleteNice shots. I read the book by Owen Beattie and John Geiger and I agree it is a good read.
It was pretty cool to visit the graves - especially so late in the season, with snow on the ground. Signs of Beattie's camp are still visible at a distance from the graves, from when they were working at the site.
